Ask me anything!
  • Do you paint other animals?
  • Cats are my favourite animals to paint and I've been observing them for many years. Having said that, I am definitely open to paint a different animal -- feel free to contact me!
  • Can you make it look exactly like on the photograph?
  • Erm, no. Since you have the photograph, why copy it? Photography is great, I have about a million photos of my cats too, but the beauty of painting is that it's an interpretation. I guarantee to get a likeness to your cat but my style is not photorealistic.
  • What if I don't like the painting?
  • Rest assured, I want you to be 100% happy with the painting. I always email a photo of the finished work before shipping so in the unlikely event that it doesn't quite match your expectations, I will not ship the work and you will not be charged for it.
  • What techniques do you use?
  • I paint on card and canvas stretched on a wooden frame with acrylics for both colour and black and white portraits.
  • What's the difference between card and stretched canvas?
  • Card is a thick 1.5mm type of paper with a smooth finish, primed with acid-free primer. Stretched canvas is a piece of canvas stretched over a 2cm deep wooden frame, then sized with glue and primed. It is lightweight and has depth. Paintings on card require a frame and I provide one at no additional cost. Stretched canvas painting doesn't require framing, it can go straight on the wall, but if you'd like it framed, it needs to be famed in either a box frame or a flat frame by a specialist framer.
  • How many photographs do you need?
  • I always like to have a choice so 5 different shots would be ideal (3 is a minimum). The photos don't need to be of high quality at all, they can be straight from your phone camera. What is important is to have a variation of poses and angles.
  • Will the painting arrive framed?
  • Paintings on card are shipped framed and paintings on canvas are shipped unframed, however I can provide a frame at an additional cost. Stretched canvas paintings don't require framing as they're ready to hang as they are (they are fitted with hooks and wire at the back) but if you'd like your stretched canvas painting framed, I can also easily organise that at an extra cost.

“I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul.”
